Dinner the Most Important Meal of the Day

For health reasons, you've all heard it said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Well, for family health dinner is the most important meal of the day. It is often difficult to get everyone together for any other time of the day because of differing schedules. However, everyone can make it to the dinner table without to much difficulty.

The key is start the trend early and make it a priority. No phones, no television--just you and your family. Set a specific time and stick to that. It's true that sometimes you will have to make exceptions to the family dinnertime rule. Just make sure that the exceptions are not becoming the rule.

While you are sitting down eating it is the perfect time to talk and reconnect with each other. (That would be why it is such a popular dating activity.) Ask about each other's day. Find out what plans there may be for the coming week.

If you can get your significant other to commit to dinner time it is much easier to get the children to fall in line. And as I said previously, start when they are young. Once a routine has been established they are more likely to go along with it when they become teenagers. And if you already have teenagers, it's never to late to begin. (And I wish you the best of luck as you will be likely to need it.)

My little girl is to young to contribute much to the discussion right now. But she is learning patterns of behavior from her mom and dad. It is true that the way she behaves at her own dinner table is how she behaves when visiting others.
